Month 4: Can you hear me now?

First Flight!
This month has flown by! We took our first flight to Oklahoma for Thanksgiving. The Baby Bjorn carrier and the Boppy pillow were must haves during the flight. Landon did great on all the flights. David and I were able to attend an OU football game which was a lot of fun despite being very wind and cold. While in Oklahoma he was able to meet lots of friends and get spoiled my Grandma and Grandpa Reeves!
This month has been all about talking and playing with his hands! Landon is either talking away or drooling from having his hands in his mouth. David swears he is on a mission to get the whole fist in his mouth at once. The latest favorite pasttime is to grab his pants and pull them up as seen in the picture below. Grabbing his toes is also fun while getting changed!
Landon still loves his play mat and will now purposely reach for the items hanging. He is also learning to sit up in the Bumbo really well. Maurie the Moose still accompanies us everywhere.
Landon is now rolling over from his tummy to his back. He has done this a handful of times.  He loved going to pick out the Christmas tree and even saw his first fireworks at Hollydazzle a few weeks ago.
At our 4 month checkup Landon now weighs 13 lb. 12 oz. and is 25 in. long. We wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a wonderful start to 2012!

Month 3: Play, Work, Play, Sleep, Repeat

I went back to work this month and it has gone much better than I anticipated but boy does time just fly by. Each morning it is as if we are packing for a mini trip between my school bags, Landon's bag and of course Landon! The first week we forgot one thing we needed each day but never made it very far before needing to turn around. Our routine is now like clockwork and we wake up and are out of the house in an hour and 20 minutes. I LOVE picking Landon up everyday and can't wait to get home and play.

We also had a visit from Uncle DJ this month which was a lot of fun! We made wings and watched football together.

At 11 weeks Landon decided mom was getting a little too tired to wake up every night and he decided to sleep through the night. He gets to watch 3 other toddlers play at the sitters too so I think that tired him out as well.
Landon's latest weight is about 15 pounds. He is full of smiles and rarely cries. He loves to play with "Maurie" the moose and hang on to the rings. Any playtime with Dad is the best according to him as you can see in the video below. Tummytime is his least favorite thing to do but I think we are finally making some progress this week. He continues to get stronger everyday and loves to push his head up when you are holding him.

Month 2: Getting in the swing of things!

Month 2: This past month we have begun to get back in the swings of things with Landon. This month we have been consumed with getting Landon into a routine and get me used to leaving him with others so we can visit friends, go on a date, and prepare for me to go back to work.

I never thought that just the thought of leaving Landon with a babysitter would be so hard and with no family in the area that was something we had to tackle head on. We left him first with our friends John & Leah for a few hours. Our friend Kim works with students at the local college in Christian ministries and was able to recommend a few girls who would be willing to watch Landon. Becca arrived to watch Landon and my fears of leaving him disappeared in an instant. She has a lot of experience, has a large family, and Landon loves being with her every Tuesday while we go to our church group. When I am back at work we will be leaving him with our friend Aimee who goes to our church and has 3 beautiful children of her own. We feel incredibly blessed to have these two women in our lives to babysit Landon regularly!

2 Months Old!

Landon is growing and at his 2 month appointment he weighed 10 lb, 15 oz and was 22 5/8 inches long which puts him at the 22nd and 35th percentile. He has found his hands this month and is currently working on fitting the WHOLE hand in his mouth. He has been following sounds, lights, and objects this whole month and is now beginning to pick up rattles but is not aware that he is making the noise. Landon is a very happy baby and his smiles are now accompanied by a variety of coos and a small giggle occasionally.

This month we also made our 1st road trip to NY. Landon did great in the car. We went to Canandaigua for my friend Janelle's wedding and left him with Carly and my mom overnight. He did great with them and I am not sure he even noticed we were gone! We also loved visiting the zoo and apple picking for the 1st time. My friend Bridget and her 3 month old Drew were also able to stop by for a visit so the boys could meet. He was also able to meet more of his Grandma Harter's family.

Here are a few videos from the month. Our favorite toys are still the rattle ball and the star mat but we have added a moose and lady bug toy to our favorite things!

This is super long but as the 2 month mark comes to a close it's time to go back to work. The past 2 months have been beyond amazing and I feel blessed to have had 8 weeks to be at home. I have the BEST life and could not have done any of this without David who has been a great dad!

Month 1: Learning the Ropes.

This first month with Landon has been very busy. It was great to have our families visit and help us in the days just after he was born. Labor day weekend was also fun as Landon met his cousin Tyler (9 months old). Tyler loved being close to Landon.

Our friends have also been great over the past month bringing many meals and sharing advice. We have also not had to buy any diapers yet thanks to our friends who have passed on diapers they no longer need! It is wonderful to have so many friends with little ones to learn from.

Some of my firsts...
First Trip Out (Ice Cream, Yum!)

One of my First Walks Around The Block
My Second Football Game With Dad

First Trip To Yorktown Beach (Labor Day Wknd)
Where are we headed cuz?
Cousins Hanging Out For The First Time

See How I Have Grown This Month

Landon is now about 10 1/2 pounds (according to the wii) and is 21 inches long. He is getting stronger everyday. While on his tummy he enjoys kicking his feet to try to push himself up. He picks up his head briefly and is just barely beginning to realize his hands can help him push his head up. He is beginning to make sounds.

Favorite Toys:
1. Anything with lights. Specifically he loves the star light on his playmat and his rainforest mobile in his crib.
2. He also loves the sound of the round rattle that hangs on the play mat and a rattle ball that we have. When we rattle the ball he is able to follow it with his eyes.
3. Car Mirror- Many would not consider this a toy however the mirror that hangs in the backseat came with a remote that allows you to turn on a light or music from the front seat. Whenever we are driving and he gets upset we turn it on and magically he is fine.

While sleep and free time have not come around much this past month it has been better than I had imagined it would be. We have made it out to eat with the baby twice and are looking forward to finding some babysitters so we can go on a date soon.

August 17th, 2011: A Perfect Day

The anticipation of Landon's arrival was almost too much for me to handle. Having been off of work all summer I had plenty of time to relax, organize the house, and set up Landon's room a few times. As my due date got closer I became anxious to have him not because I was super uncomfortable or was tired of being pregnant but because I wanted to hold him, see what he looked like, and jump into the next chapter in our lives.
On August 16th (my due date) David and I were on the way to my doctor's appointment as I tried to conspire a story with him that we could tell the doctor so that we could have the baby this week. Little did I know we would not have to persuade the doctor at all and he would schedule an induction for the next day, Wednesday, August 17th. There was no reason to induce other than the doctors felt that the baby was ready and there was no reason to wait any longer.

The top 5 things about our labor and delivery experience were...
5. While we brought lots of games we only made it through half a game of phase 10.
4. David's Family, my Mom, Jimmy, Katrina, and Carly were all able to make it in time for the delivery.
3. I made it to 9.5 cm without medicine or the epidural (2:00p.m.)! The epidural allowed me to feel when I needed to push but I was not in severe pain and loved knowing everything that was going on and not being in a ton of pain.
2. David stayed super calm and was great at making me relax through contractions. Without him I know I would not have been able to stay calm. Talking with him throughout the day and talking about how excited we both were to see Landon...(especially since early on they could tell he had a full head of hair)
1. Landon Daniel Reeves was born at 4:18pm weighing 7lb 5 oz and was 20 inches long. Hearing him cry for the first time and just feeling how warm he was when he laid on me will be moments I will never forget! While they asked for the neonatologist to be present upon Landon's arrival he had a "why am I even here look on his face" because Landon was so healthy!

Welcome!

Welcome to our blog! We are looking forward to being able to update all our family and friends who are far away with this blog. Monthly updates will be added with photos. I have never blogged before but am hoping to be able to keep up with this as a neat way to track Landon's milestones.
